Located at 1500m in Khasi Hills which is 103 km south of Guwahati, Sillong the capital city of Meghalaya (abode of clouds) was declared as a seperate state. Sillong in past few years have developed as a popular hill station for summer tourist in National and International markets. Sillong is well connected by air and surface transportation. Birders are recommended to spent atleast 5 - 6 days at this beautiful place at the month of November to February.
One can have look at Black and Crested Serpent Eagles, Oriental Turtle and Emerald Doves, Red Headed Trogon, Great, Golden Throated and Blue Throated Barbets, White browe Piculet, Bay woodpecker, long taile shrikes, Black naped orioles, Bar winged Fly catcher shrike, Large Cuckooshrikes, Scarlet and short billed Minivet, Black creasted, white throated, mountain, flavescent and black bulbuls, Puff throated Babbler, white browed and streak breasted Scimitar babblers, Grey throated Babblers, Silver eared Mesia, Red billed Leiothrix, Blue winged Minla, Whishkered Yuhina, Nepal Fulvetta, Orange - gorgeted Fly catcher, White spectacled, golden spectacled and Grey hooded Warblers, Grey bushchat, Plumbeous and white capped River redstarts, Blue whistling thrush, green backed tits, chestnut bellied and Velvet fronted Nuthatches, Oliver backed pipit, Russet sparrow and many more ..... |
